Blue South formed in
2004 resulting from a chance meeting between twins, Laura and Charlotte
Carrivick, and Jacey Harris at a Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike concert
in Plymouth in 2003. The band have attended Sore Fingers Summer Schools
for the past few years where they have benefitted from tutoring by
world class musicians such
as Roland White, Matt Flinner, Tim O'brien, Kate Lissauer, Ron Stewart,
Doug Cox, Leon Hunt and Bill Evans. As well as this, playing regularly
in various sessions around the South West has contributed to their
style. Blue South play a varied mix of old bluegrass standards and
newer material with some original songs. As well as the three
leading members, the band are expertly backed up by Jeremy
Carrivick on guitar and either Steve Williams or Damien Scarr on bass.
Although mainly playing gigs in their local area, Blue South also play
at various UK festivals.
